Base

Our main base is at Bridge-End Outdoor Centre in Burra Isle, and it is from here that many of our trips start.

Bridge-End Outdoor Centre

The area around the outdoor centre is extremely sheltered making it ideally suited to new kayakers or those getting used to being back in the water again.

For our multi-day packages self-catering hostel standard accommodation is available in the Centre. Alternatively there is a small camping area behind the Centre (on the left in the picture).

The Centre has accommodation for up to 26 people, mostly in small dormitories. It also has full kitchen and dining facilities, toilets and hot showers.

Charges are £10 per person per night for the Centre, and £5 per person for camping. Advance booking is essential as the Centre is often used by schools and youth organisations.

How to get to Bridge-End Outdoor Centre:

By car: Starting from Lerwick, follow signs for Scalloway. Just before you reach Scalloway take a left turn signposted Burra Isle. Follow this road for about three miles crossing two bridges. The road forks as you crest a small rise. Take the left fork, signposted Bridge-End. After another two miles the road forks again in front of a war memorial. Take the left fork signposted Houss, the Outdoor Centre is now just below on your right.

If you have no transport we can arrange to pick you up from your accommodation in Lerwick or the central mainland.

Exploring caves and arches on the island of Yell

A kayak gives you access to remote parts of Shetland's spectacular coastline.

Kayaking is also one of the best ways to see Shetland's wildlife.
